Thymosin Alpha 1
Thymosin alpha-1 research profile
Thymosin alpha-1 is a 28-residue, N-terminally acetylated peptide first isolated from calf thymus by Allan Goldstein and colleagues in 1977. It is an N-terminal fragment of prothymosin alpha. Under the name thymalfasin it is the active ingredient of an approved medicine in a number of countries; it is not FDA-approved.

Frequently asked questions
What is thymalfasin?
The international nonproprietary name for thymosin alpha-1 as a medicine, approved in a number of countries but not by the FDA.
What modification does thymosin alpha-1 carry?
An acetylated N-terminal serine; the C-terminus is a free acid.
How do I verify my lot?
Scan the QR code on the vial. It opens the certificate of analysis for that lot, with HPLC purity and the mass spectrometry identity result.
